New Features on Social Media | March 2022

Whew, March was another busy month for new features on social media platforms. Here's a look back at the latest social media updates:

Added a protected profile setting to limit profile visibility to certain followers.

Launched chronological feeds and "favorites" feeds for all users.
Testing improved discovery for social movements via hashtags.
Pulled Boomerang and Hyperlapse from app stores.
Introduced Creator Lab as a new educational resource for creators.

Added support for in-app checkout.
Announced an additional $1.2M for its Creator Fund to support underrepresented influencers.
Introduced the ability to export video content to share on other social platforms.

Added new policies for app developers to improve user trust and safety.
Acquired NextMind, a brain-computer interface startup, to enhance future generations of its AR glasses (Spectacles).
Released Custom Landmarkers feature to help creators build AR experiences.

Expanded its playlist creation tool "Blend" to support multiple users and even their favorite musicians.
Rolled out a new podcast discover filter.

Expanded its tip jar feature beyond individual posts to also support blog-level tipping.
